Today was a very special day for our fourth graders: the graduation ceremony at the end of their primary school years.
The morning began with an emotional service in the church in Heinsberg. Together with their families, teachers and classmates, the children looked back on their time at primary school and asked for a blessing for the upcoming new phase of their lives.
Everyone then gathered in the school gym, where classes 4a and 4b had prepared a colorful and varied program for their families, teachers and classmates. The fourth-graders’ ceremonial entry was followed by the rap “Are you ready”, with which the children got things off to a great start.
Principal Ms. Göbel-Kohtz welcomed everyone present and thanked them for four wonderful years together. Further contributions followed: a cup song by class 4b, funny sketches by both classes, a stand-up play by class 4a, the presentation of honorary certificates to the school’s most sporty children, a thank-you to the class 4 mediators and the award ceremony for this year’s reading competition.
Things got emotional during the farewell song “Auf Wiedersehen” and the joint final dance “Can’t stop the feeling”.
Finally, Ms. Göbel-Kohtz ceremoniously presented the certificates to all fourth graders and addressed personal words to the children.
Before the school day ended, Years 1 to 3 sang the song “Wir sagen euch Tschüss” for their older classmates and then formed a trellis in the schoolyard, through which the fourth graders were ceremoniously led out.
It was an all-round successful and moving celebration – we wish our big ones all the best for their future and hope that they will keep fond memories of their time at St. Katharina Primary School!
