Over the past few weeks, we have once again welcomed our future first graders to the starter class at our school. Over a total of five days, the children had the opportunity to get to know their new school, their class teacher Mrs. Bender, the class pet fox Fritzi and their future classmates.
The first starter class day focused on getting to know each other. The second-graders, who were chosen as mentors for the new school starters, welcomed the children to the schoolyard with the school song “Ganz gleich”. The picture book “Welcome, little fox” was read aloud in class and then a little fox was made.
On the second starter class day, the children explored the school together with their mentors in an exciting school rally. Many rooms and corners of the school were discovered.
Another highlight was the visit to the OGS. During an OGS rally, the children got to know the various rooms of the open all-day school, threw cans, designed their own Lego brick and discovered exciting games.
A sporty morning awaited them at the next meeting. In the sports hall, the children learned their first sports rules and played various movement games with the second graders.
At the end of the starter class series, the fox class hiked to the nearby playground together with their parents, class teacher and fox Fritzi. There, the children had plenty of time to play, run around and get to know each other even better.
All five starter class days were a lot of fun for the future school children and made the transition to elementary school easier. We are very much looking forward to welcoming our new fox class after the summer vacation!
