Children from St. Katharina elementary school in Heinsberg win elementary school swimming competition at local level
This year’s winning team at the annual swimming competition for elementary school in Kirchhundem is St. Katharina-Grundschule Heinsberg. The pupils qualified for the district competition on Monday, May 5, 2025 in the Finto.
The competition between the elementary school from Kirchhundem, Welschen-Ennest and Heinsberg consisted of a total of five disciplines.
After four disciplines, the teams from Kirchhundem and Heinsberg were tied. The team from Kirchhundem came out on top in the breaststroke and diving relay as well as the 6-minute endurance swim. The team from Heinsberg was ahead in the backstroke and freestyle relay. The decision was now to be made in the final competition, the obese T-shirt relay. The team from Sankt-Katharina-Grundschule came out on top and took home the community challenge cup for one year. Second place went to the Kirchhundem elementary school Am Kreuzberg; third place went to the team from GGS Welschen-Ennest.
At the award ceremony, the ambitious but very fair fighting spirit of all participants was particularly praised and honored with certificates, medals and gifts sponsored by Volksbank Sauerland e.G.. The winners from Heinsberg can also look forward to a voucher for a visit to a fast-food restaurant, which is traditionally redeemed directly after the district competition.
